The Museums
The British Museum is famous throughout the world,
especially for its Egyptian mummies and for the Parthenon sculptures. An
hour and a half’s visit of the museum will show you the real gems
of the collection including the Rosetta Stone and wonderful examples of
Roman and Anglo Saxon art and manufacture.
The Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) is the greatest museum
dedicated to art and design, a true treasure house with almost 7 miles of galleries
containing objects of beauty from all over the world. A highlights tour will
include such works as Raphael’s cartoons, the biggest bed in the world
and Henry VIII’s writing desk as well as many other artefacts from some
of the world’s richest cultures.

Sir John Soane’s Museum is a fascinating cornucopia of
objects collected by one of England’s most famous architects of the 19th
century. It is displayed where it was intended to be seen, in his own home in
central London. The collection ranges from an Egyptian sarcophagus to Renaissance
bronzes.
The Leighton House museum in Kensington was the home
of one of England’s Victorian artists who had a particular love
of islamic tiles with which he decorated his home.
