Kid’s in London

There are plenty of things to do in London if you have children to keep entertained. It’s fun to ride on a London double decker bus and I can help you get around the city with ease. How about a short trip on the river too? There are several boat rides in central London that are easy to tie in with visiting attractions.

Here are some suggestions of attractions children may like:

The London Eye – our panoramic ferris wheel. I can point out all the famous buildings from 400 feet up! Fast Track tickets and private capsules are also available.

Greenwich is home to our maritime past. Henry VIII had one of his favourite palaces here and the shipyards nearby were busy building his timber galleons. Later King Charles II founded the royal observatory for the study of the stars. The Time Galleries help children understand the measurement of time around the world and, as home to the prime meridian, they can have their picture taken with one foot in the eastern hemisphere and one foot in the western hemisphere. The brand new planetarium will be a huge hit with kids too.

The National Maritime Museum holds many treasures from our naval past such as the uniform worn by Nelson when he was killed in the Battle of Trafalgar. Young children enjoy the Royal Mews where there are always a couple of the Queen’s horses in the stables. They can see the huge gilded Coronation Coach and the Glass Coach that took Princess Diana to her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981.

The Tower of London is always popular with children who seem to enjoy gruesome tales more than adults! There are so many stories of the many prisoners of Tower and their visit to see the Crown Jewels is something they will remember for ever.

A short visit to the British Museum is usually popular too, if only for the Egyptian mummies! The museum has the biggest collection of mummies outside Cairo.

The Imperial War Museum has several displays that children enjoy such as the 1940s house and the Blitz experience. They can find out what it was like to be in the trenches of World War One or the bombing raids of 1940s London.
